Faithful Innovation

Faithful Innovation is about finding where God is and what God is calling us to be and do in our community.

In January 2023, our team began a training and “experimentation” process wherein our Faithful Innovation team learned how to go about this journey. The steps consisted of the following:

Though we have long led food and clothing drives and fundraising for school supplies as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets, the team developed “experiments” to try on a different role. Often this looked like doing the usual things in a new way:

And so, we observed and listened, shared what we saw and heard, and tried things. This has become a basis from which we are learning where we might be of service, where we might be a better community partner. We learned:

• We have a strong need to talk and relate to one another.
• We have a safe space to host meetings for community groups that are interested in using it.
• Several entities have an interest in partnering with us for other events and shared services.
• We have a refreshed congregation with a renewed interest and sense of purpose in trying new things.
• We are committed to continuing the journey.

Though our formal training sessions are complete, the Faithful Innovation Team will carry on, working as a congregation to continue discovering, reaching out, and watching and listening for God within ourselves, our church, and our community.
